Cosworth 60th Anniversary Display

Happy Birthday Cosworth! Today we celebrated Cosworth’s landmark birthday with a display of just a handful of the cars that has stamped the company’s place in history.

Adrian Newey very kindly lent us his pristine Lotus 49B (you might recall that we borrowed his car for Autosport International 2017). This car has been completely rebuilt from scratch, and he is currently racing it at selected historic events.

We were also joined by Paul Linfoot’s ex-Eggenberger Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth touring car, which like Adrian’s Lotus is also raced, most recently at the Silverstone Classic.

Peter Connew has been extremely generous in letting us display the Connew PC1 Formula 1 car in Cosworth’s reception, so we though it was only fair to wheel it out into the car park to join in the festivities.

Finally, we had two Formula 1 legends on hand from United Autosports. The Williams FW07B was driven by Alan Jones to victory in 1980 (two wins with this actual chassis), and the March 701 was driven by Jackie Stewart ten years earlier, with this chassis taking victory at the 1970 Spanish Grand Prix.
