Welcome to Modatek!

Established in 2013 by Matt and Diana Grant, Modatek is Cosworth‘s official distributor for components their historic engines. We supply parts to customers all over the world. Indeed, our customers ranging from individuals building their own engines through to large-scale engine build companies. We have hundreds of parts in stock, including piston sets, bearings, pumps and gaskets. Please take a look at range of Cosworth parts that we stock on our Shop page. In addition, we have exclusive access to all of Cosworth’s archived drawings and technical records. Our archive records begin with the very first Formula Junior engines from the early ’60s. We have drawings and build details for all manner of subsequent engines. Early engines that we cover include MAE, SCA, FVA and DFV projects. We even support the most recent F1 V10 and V8 engines, the CK, TJ and CA. We can get parts that were previously obsolete back into manufacture again with full approval from Cosworth. Modatek is also an engineering consultancy tailored to the demands of the motor sport and automotive sectors. From Formula 1 to niche road car projects, Modatek can call on over 25 years of experience to provide a first class service.

About Cosworth

Mike Costin and Keith Duckworth founded Cosworth in 1958 . Their mission was surprisingly simple. “It must be possible to create a living messing around with racing engines”. They did more than mess around over the following years! Cosworth engines virtually dominated almost every major series that they entered, starting with the first Formula Junior engines that were launched in 1960.

Four years later, the MAE and SCA engines were launched in the Formula 3 and Formula 2 categories. Both engines went on to dominate their respective championships. The FVA engine took over from the SCA in 1966, cleaning up in Formula 2. And then in 1967 history was made when the DFV won first time out in Formula 1. This remarkable engine went on to take a record 155 victories, 12 drivers’ championships and 10 constructors’ championships.

The Cosworth name also became a force to be reckoned with on the road. Already a rallying legend, the BD series expanded into automotive territory. Likewise, the YB range of engines became the power plant for Ford’s iconic Sierra and Escort RS Cosworths.

At Modatek we are proud to be able to help our customers keep their historic Cosworth engines running. We have been able to supply parts for all manner of engines, from the early Formula Junior variants through to the mind-boggling 20,000 rpm CA Formula 1 engine.
