Description
The Cosworth YB0611 head gasket is made by Victor Reinz, after extensive development by Cosworth during the Group A era. This gasket proved to be the solution to many of the head joint issues that Cosworth were suffering as they sought to extract more power from the YB engine to stay ahead of the competition. Today this part is one of the most popular head gaskets on the market for the Cosworth YB engine.
This gasket is constructed from a a unique proprietary material that is made up from a substrate sheet coated on both sides with Aramid fibres. The sheet also contains a heat-resistant asbestos substitute material. The sheet is carefully rolled to the required thickness, and then a coating of silicone resin is applied and polymerised to serve as binder. Further, each bore has a swaged stainless steel ring to prevent damage from blow-by and chemical erosion (these rings are also sometimes referred to as fire rings).
