Description
How would you like an actual Cosworth Formula 1 part to display in your home or office? This is an incredibly unique piece from an F1 engine – part of the left hand cam cover from the Cosworth VJ V10 engine from 1998.
Cosworth VJ Engine
The VJ engine, known publicly as the Zetec-R V10, was Cosworth’s second-generation 3 litre V10 engine. It was the works engine for the Stewart Grand Prix team in 1998, powering their SF2 chassis and driven by Rubens Barrichello, Jan Magnusson and Jos Verstappen. In later years it became the customer engine for the Minardi team, with which Fernando Alonso made his debut in 2001.
Cosworth VJ Front Cam Cover
One of the most notable parts on any engine is the cam cover, and this is especially true for the Cosworth VJ engine. On the VJ, the cam cover was actually in two parts. The front section was an aluminium part, which also doubled as the front engine mount. The rear 2/3rds of the cam cover was a simple carbon cover, which was non-load bearing.
This actual front cam cover is from the left-hand side of the engine, as was used in engines raced in 1998 by Stewart Grand Prix with Rubens Barrichello, Jan Magnusson and Jos Verstappen at the wheel.
