The material for this seal is FPM, which is a fluoroelastomer that has exceptional resistance to chemicals and temperatures. FPM has a low compression set combined with remarkable ageing features. It is resistant to silicone and mineral oils and greases, petrol and diesel fuels, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, even when under a high vacuum.
The seal also includes a metal energiser garter spring that helps the sealing lip of the seal maintain a consistent and even pressure on the running surface of the shaft.
