Every once in a while we get an amazing piece of Cosworth memorabilia to sell, and this is one of those items! We have a very limited quantity of an integral engine component from an iconic engine – the Cosworth DFV block & sump assembly.
The DFV engine is still the most successful engine in Formula 1 history – 155 wins, 12 drivers championships and 10 constructors titles. At the heart of the DFV was the cylinder block, laid out in an 8 cylinder vee configuration. Cast in high strength aluminium alloy, the block helped to transmit loads between the chassis and gearbox – a novel idea when the DFV was first launched in 1967.
These particular block & sump assemblies were part-machined by Cosworth in 2019, but were never finished due to dimensional issues. However, whilst they might not be suitable for a running engine, they do make for an amazing display. For example, the Cosworth DFV block & sump assembly is an excellent centre-piece for a glass coffee table. Alternatively, it could be used to hold wine and champagne bottles. Whatever the use, one of these block & sump assemblies on display is undoubtedly a talking point!
