Description
*** Now available – a limited edition Cosworth DFV model engine ***
When the Cosworth DFV engine reached 100 Formula 1 Grand Prix victories in 1977 Cosworth commissioned a limited run of model DFV engines to commemorate this incredible achievement. These models were made by Bassett-Lowke, a well-respected model maker based in Northampton, UK. Each model engine was mounted on green felt atop a wooden base with a removable clear Perspex case.
On the wooden base was a metal plaque that was engraved as follows:
“This model was presented by Keith Duckworth designer of the DFV engine to commemorate 100 Formula 1 World Championship victories. achieved between 1967 – 1977 with engines manufactured by Cosworth Engineering Ltd.”.
For added authenticity, Keith Duckworth’s signature was engraved next to this text.
These model engines were given to Cosworth members of staff and a few VIPs and as such are incredibly rare and unique items of memorabilia.
We now have one of these distinctive model engines for sale. Every model was assigned a unique number, and this one is DFV047. The model, base and Perspex case are in excellent condition. We can provide provenance for this model engine on request.
