Without doubt, the Cosworth DFV engine is the most successful engine to have ever appeared in Formula 1 – 155 wins, 12 drivers championships and 10 constructors titles. But it could have all ended so differently if Cosworth hadn’t solved the issue of cam gear teeth failure. That is why the humble DFV cam gear came to represent a pivotal moment in Formula 1 history.
This particular unused cam gear has been polished by a process known as stream finishing, and looks great on any shelf or desk.
