Classic Motor Show 2019
This weekend saw the return of the annual Classic Motor Show. Held at the NEC in Birmingham, this is a chance for classic car owners and clubs to get together and discuss all things classic. As ever, we went along to catch up with old and new customers. We also wanted to see how many Cosworth engines we could find.
And we definitely weren’t disappointed! Amongst the gleaming and pristine cars were dozens of Cosworth-powered classics. In fact, virtually every open bonnet or engine cover revealed yet another Cosworth powerplant. And even those that weren’t fitted with a Cosworth engine had links back to the Northampton company.
There was a fleet of Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth cars on display courtesy of the RS500 Owners Club. We also spotted a few Sierra RS Cosworth’s scattered around on other stands, all of course powered by the ever-versatile YB engine.
In addition to the Sierras, there were also a number of other iconic Ford classics, such as the RS200, Escort and Focus. The latter was a WRC spec Focus as used by Colin McRae, powered by the Cosworth YC rally engine.
There was also a gaggle of Metro 6R4 road and competition cars. Did you know that the 6R4 engine contains numerous DFV components, such as the DR4601 valve springs that we still supply today?
All in all a great day out, and you can see just a handful of the many photos that we took at the Classic Car Show in our gallery below.
