Lola T60 F2 Car Visits Cosworth

We’ve got a new car in Cosworth’s reception, a real blast from the past. This is the Lola T60, kindly on loan from current owner Roger Fowler. This particular chassis SL60/2 was originally built by Lola for the Midland Racing Partnership. Roger has had the car completely rebuilt a few years ago, and we think the car looks amazing!

Lola T60 Formula 2 Car at Cosworth

The Lola T60 was raced in Formula 2 during the ’65 and ’66 seasons by numerous racing legends including John Surtees, Richard Attwood and Chris Amon. Designed by Tony Southgate, the T60 was Lola’s first single-seater monocoque. However, only five chassis were ever made, with two of these going into Formula 3. As a result, this is one very rare racing car! You can read more about the history behind the T60 over on Lola Heritage’s website.

The engine that powered this car was Cosworth’s SCA variant. Interestingly, the SCA was the first Cosworth engine to feature a completely new and bespoke cylinder head, and the engine dominated F2 in the mid ’60s. In subsequent years Cosworth went on to design many more cylinder heads, but the lessons learnt from the SCA were pivotal.

Today Modatek are proud to be able to continue to supply genuine Cosworth parts for these engines. For instance, we’ve got a selection of SCA parts available to purchase in our on-line shop. Can’t see the part you need? Then get in touch and let us know how we can help you.
