Cosworth DFV Cam Cover Reverse Engineered

Its such an iconic part of the Cosworth DFV engine, that when one of our customers wanted more DA0098 cam covers, we jumped at the chance to reverse engineer it using the original drawings.

The DFV cam cover was integral to the engine being the one of the first fully-stressed engines on the Formula 1 grid. The cam covers are connected with “fish-plates” at either end to the back of the tub and the front of the gearbox, and as such have to transmit the chassis loads. Interestingly, the cam covers are interchangeable from one side of the engine to the other, so that same design can be used on both the left hand and right hand heads (that’s why the lower Ford logo is upside down).
