Modatek can recreate original Cosworth parts using modern manufacturing methods. One such example is this throttle slide cover for the DFR engine.
The original covers were machined from magnesium castings, but unfortunately the tooling is no longer available. However, within a couple of days a 3D CAD model was created from the original hand drawings.
In only five days, the CAD models were used to machine new covers from solid billets of aluminium alloy. The covers were then shot-blasted all over and anodised black to give the parts the look and feel of the original castings.
